Family Coaching

The change from being a couple to becoming a family is challenging. Parental responsibilities continue for many years. Family life can be mutually supportive and rewarding but it can also be the source of a great deal of stress, unhappiness and dissatisfaction.

There is a lot of information available on how to be a good parent in the form of books, leaflets, expert advisors, topical television programmes and government guidelines. Feedback I get from Family Coaching clients is that they often suffer from information overload, which can lead to confusion because often one source of advice will contradict another. Parents may feel inadequate or a failure because their particular child or family has not followed the standard pattern.

What do I offer as a Family Coach?
I am a neutral independent professional with a broad range of skills. I provide Family Coaching for individuals within the family and for the family unit as a whole. Each family will have its own personal dynamics into which the individual needs and aspirations of each family member will feed. My role is to support a review of what is right for those individuals and their particular family, encouraging them to achieve both their personal and family goals.

We may discuss topics

  • Related directly to an adult, such as career development or a time-consuming leisure activity and the impact of that on the family unit.
  • Disagreements about parenting styles, which may be a source of irritation for the parents and confusing for the child.
  • Behavioural challenges in the child.
  • Parental anxiety about their relationship with their child.

The potential topic list is endless but the concept of Family Coaching remains the same to help you achieve a high quality and rewarding family life as well as personal satisfaction.

I visit each family in their own home or they can come to me if they wish. I may speak to family members separately if it seems to be appropriate and is agreed by all participants.

Please contact me by phone or email if you would like more information about Family Coaching. I would love to hear from you and hear your thoughts about family life.
